Company Profile - Overview
Dream Team Racing Stable, LLC is a new venture that provides Thoroughbred horseracing management services in a partnership environment. Our unique perspective allows affordable partnership opportunities in thoroughbred racing ownership. Investors, or Partners – as we like to call them, receive all the benefits of horse ownership, but are able to substantially reduce their risk by purchasing fractional interests in several horses. We hope that you will find “The Dream Team” to be an outstanding organization that allows you affordable participation in the “Sport of Kings” with reduced risk.
Dream Team Racing Stable, LLC utilizes the expertise of numerous professionals in selecting thoroughbreds for racing. Our team includes our racing manager, a bloodstock agent, an ex-jockey, a consignor, a professional trainer and a veterinarian. Each of these seasoned professionals carefully critiques each potential horse. Only when there is overwhelming agreement, do we go forward and bid on a horse. Before bidding, we establish a maximum value for each horse, and we only acquire horses within our established goals. We work relentlessly to identify top-notch quality weanlings, yearlings and unraced two year olds that possess the bloodlines and conformation to be successful on the racetrack. We make every reasonable effort to acquire them at a cost-effective price, while maintaining proper fiscal discipline and providing an increasing asset value for our partners.
Dream Team Racing Stable, LLC is somewhat unique in that we typically buy horses when they are weanlings (about nine months old) rather than as yearlings (about a year and nine months old). The reason for this approach is simple. First, we believe we can obtain better value (more reasonable prices) while absorbing the additional risk inherent in developing a horse to race. Second, by purchasing them sooner, we are able to manage them at a farm in Ocala, Florida. This allows us to closely monitor their growth and development. The most important part of the success of a racehorse can not be seen – it’s how much “heart” the horse possesses. By watching them on a daily basis, as they grow and develop, we get an indication of which horses show promise and which horses have heart. It gives us a unique advantage. Horses that meet our demanding criteria and strategic racing objectives are retained, trained and offered to our investors. In addition, we also offer home-bred horses.
Dream Team Racing Stable, LLC is committed to quality service to our investors – we consider them partners. Thus, we are always accessible to answer your questions. We also make it a high priority to stay in touch with you, through several communication mechanisms, so that you are always well informed about the status of each racehorse. No matter if you own 1% of a horse or 50% of ten horses, we are highly committed to being the best at communicating with our partners and involving all our partners in the decision-making process.
Company Profile – Our Philosophy
Each year, Dream Team Racing Stable, LLC attends the major auctions in Kentucky, Florida, Maryland, and New York looking for prospective racehorses. Our unique perspective focuses on horses at the weanling level. We concentrate on horses with very good conformation. While there is no such thing as a perfect horse, we only consider horses that have very good conformation. If they have a slight conformation flaw (which all horses have), we make a determination of what we think will happen as the horse matures. Will it likely diminish, stay the same, or become worse? If after such consideration, we believe it is something we can accept, we then discuss its impact on the career of the horse. As a team, we exercise prudent judgment on those identifiable issues that have the potential for failure under the duress of training.
Throughout the year, we constantly review the statistical data of current and past offspring of all active sires and mares. From this information, we can ascertain which available bloodlines represent the greatest potential for success within our budgetary guidelines. However, once we identify the available young horses that have the "genetic and market aptitude" to succeed in the sales ring and on the track, they must be closely inspected to ensure they possess the correct physical attributes to withstand the rigors of training and racing. Proper physical conformation reduces the risks of future ailments that may inhibit racing performance.
We thoroughly review all pertinent statistics in arriving at our estimate of value for each horse. If we are able to purchase a horse for the value we established (or less), we will acquire the horse. If not, we simply pass on it.
Once a horse is purchased, it is shipped to a farm in Ocala, Florida, where the observation period begins. Ocala was selected as the site of the farm due to the excellent soil (heavy in calcium, which is good for bones), fresh clean water, excellent climate (mild winters), and the abundance of equine medical professionals in the area.
Company Profile – The Dream Team Staff
Dream Team Racing Stable, LLC is headed by our racing manager, James Culver, Ph. D., Statistical Analysis, and MBA.
