Big Boy Mo

A 2016 NY bred colt by Boys at Tosconova

This aptly named and large muscular colt is the son of Boys At Tosconova, a multiple graded stakes winner and a Grade 1 winner of over $688,000 in just nine races.  An injury cut his racing career short but he won or placed in all nine of his starts, winning five races, finished 2nd three times and 3rd once.  As a precocious individual, he won the Grade 1 Hopeful Stakes at Saratoga as a two year old while finishing 2nd in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile to Uncle Mo.  He broke his maiden early when he won a five furlong MSW contest with the eye-popping time of 56.1 seconds and distancing the competition by twelve lengths.

Big Boy Mo is out of the Cape Canaveral mare named Sage Burner.  Sage Burner is the dam of our own Tail of Intrigue who is tearing up the track in her breezes as she prepares for her first race.  Sage Burner has produced three winners and all of them are multiple winners.

The 2nd and 3rd dams are both stakes placed and a stakes winner, respectively and are from the family of Woodchopper who won the G-2 Louisiana Derby.

Big Boy Mo is inbred on several key crosses including a 3 x 5 cross with Mr. Prospector, a 4 x 5 cross with Seattle Slew and a 5 x 5 cross with Northern Dancer.  In addition to his good bloodlines, his pedigree also suggests that he will likely be a sprinter and should thrive at the shorter distances on both the dirt and possibly the turf.

He will be trained by trainer Graham Motion and stabled at the Fair Hill Training Center in Maryland.  As a NY bred, he is eligible for the lucrative purses offered in the restricted NY bred races at Belmont, Saratoga and Aqueduct and he will race on that circuit as well as the northeast and mid-atlantic circuits.  He is currently in training and should be ready to race by the summer/fall of 2018.
