This striking colt is a ¾ brother (having same sire and his dam is a sister to No Such Word) to the great No Such Word who is best known for her win in the Grade 1 Gazelle Stakes at Aqueduct winning 7 races in 15 starts and earned over $650,000; she is a multiple Graded Stakes winner. He has almost the exact same blood-lines, as well as outstanding good looks and conformation; we are thrilled to have him a part of the stable for our partners.
Canadian Frontier won 6 races in 13 starts including the Grade 3 Bold Ruler Handicap at Belmont. In his early career as a stallion, he has already produced two champions including Hilda’s Passion who won 8 races in 14 starts including the Grade 1 Ballerina at Saratoga. She also won the Grade 2 Raven Run Stakes and the Bennington Stakes, both at the age of 2. She went on to also win the Grade 2 Vagrancy Stakes, the Grade 3 Hurricane Bertie Stakes, and the Inside Information Stakes in a new track record, going 7 furlongs at Gulfstream Park in an eye-popping 1:20.2. Canadian Frontier is also the sire of On The Menu who won the Just Smashing Stakes at Monmouth.
This colt's dam, Cool The Economy was a heck of a runner herself earning $222,000+ and winning six times from 18 starts. CHIEF OF STATE is her second foal so we feel there is a tremendous upside. She is a sister to No Such Word (G1 winner of over $650,000) and also comes from the family of Dubious Miss (G2 winner of $575,000) and Barlee Mist (G3 winner of over $670,000).
Chief of State really caught our eye immediately. He is a good sized and very muscular colt that is built for speed. We were thrilled with everything about him and acquired him at a fantastic value for our partners. His pedigree is loaded with famous horses such as Gone West, Mazel Trick, Mr. Prospector, Seattle Slew, Phone Trick, Raise a Native, Secretariat, Nureyev, Native Dancer, Nashua, Bold Ruler, Northern Dancer, Icecapade, Dr. Fager and Nearctic, just to name a few.
He is a NY bred colt and is eligible for the very lucrative NY bred restricted races.
